Taner Esensoy, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Esensoy is a board certified pediatrician and has
been an active member of Fayetteville Healthcare Community
since 1996.
Before starting his private practice on March 2005, Dr.
Esensoy worked at Fayetteville Children's Clinic for
six years.
Dr. Esensoy completed his pediatric medicine training
at The State University of New York Health Science
Center at Brooklyn, New York. Prior to obtaining his
specialty degree, he worked as a research coordinator at New York
Medical College for two years in Neuroscience.
Dr. Esensoy is a Fellow of American Academy of
Pediatrics and member of American Medical Association, North
Carolina Medical Society and Cumberland County Medical Society.
Along with his board certification in General Pediatrics,
he is also a diplomat of American Association of Hospital
Physicians as well as American Association of Ethical
Physicians. Dr. Esensoy was accepted to the National Registry
of Who's Who which is a highly recognized biographical publication
for professionals, as a life member for the recognition of
exemplary service both to community and to a profession.
He was also named in "America's Top Pediatricians " in
the year 2001-2002 and 2004-2005 edition by the Consumers
Research Council of America.
Dr. Esensoy enjoys all aspects of Pediatric Care
with a special interest in Pediatric Infectious
Diseases. When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Esensoy
loves spending time with his wife and two children.
Shobha Shekhar, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Shekhar is a board certified pediatrician who has completed her pediatrics medical training from Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Shekhar obtained her graduate degree in medicine in Mysore, India, prior to obtaining her specialty degree in the US. Dr. Shekhar spent 5 hears in the UK working in Pediatrics, obtained her board certification, and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of UK.
Dr. Shekhar is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society & Cumberland County Medical Society.
Dr. Shekhar enjoys all aspects of General Pediatric Care.
Dr. Shekhar resides in Fayetteville with her husband and 4 year old son.
Deniz Cereb M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Deniz Cereb is a board certified pediatrician completing his residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He has been a practicing pediatrician since 1993 and joins Rainbow Pediatrics from a very successful private practice in Staten Island, New York.
Dr. Cereb enjoys all aspects of pediatric care and will practice at Rainbow Pediatrics Hoke County location.
Zakiya Karim M.D.
Zakiya Karim, M.D. is a board certified pediatrician, who completed pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Karim obtained her medical degree from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh. She is fluent in English, Bengali, and Hindi.
After completing her residency, she served with the full time faculty at University of Arizona, Tucson for two years as a Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. She worked as an active clinical educator and mentor for pediatric residents and medical students.
Dr. Karim enjoys all aspects of pediatric medicine, she is especially interested in patients who suffer from chronic abdominal pain, obesity, asthma, food allergies, and acute pediatric care.
Dr. Karim is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Arizona Asthma Coalition.
In her leisure time she likes to spend time with her husband and two children. She currently lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Chitra Chandrasekaran M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Chitra completed her medical school at Stanley Medical College in India and completed her pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where she served as Chief Resident on her third year of training.
Some of her special interests while working at the medical center were the Pediatric Obesity Program “Live Light Live Right” and the Big Brother, Big Sister Program “Mentoring through Medicine Program”. She also has a particular interest in working with new moms and their babies.
Dr. Chitra is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She currently resides in Fayetteville, NC with her family.
Cinthia Fletcher Follrod, CPNP
Cinthia Follrod is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and has been providing Pediatric care since 1990.
Mrs. Follrod obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from East Carolina University. She then went on to complete her graduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Pediatric Nurse practitioner Program.
Prior to joining Rainbow Pediatrics, Mrs. Follrod was a nurse practitioner at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for their Inpatient Pediatric Service, and she also practiced as a Nurse Practitioner at Hope Mills Pediatrics.
Mrs. Follrod is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Mrs. Follrod enjoys all aspects of Pediatric care. She lives in Hope Mills, North Carolina with her husband and two sons.
Cheryl Burke CPNP
Cheryl Burke is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, graduating from State University of New York, and has been providing Pediatric care since 2004. Her work experience includes working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Duke University Hospital, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center PICU, and Womack Army Medical Center’s family Pediatric clinic.
Cheryl enjoys all aspects of pediatric care but has a particular fondness for management of acute asthma and diabetic patients.
