Catherine Shaw, MSPA, PA-C
Pediatric Provider, Raeford
Catherine Shaw’s passion for medicine was ignited at a young age. Born in Greenville, SC, to a nurse and with a natural curiosity, Catherine always knew she wanted to work in the medical field. Her journey began with an interest in pediatric dentistry and nursing until she discovered the role of Physician Assistants (PAs) during her time as an anesthesia technician following graduation from the University of South Carolina.
After graduating with a degree in Public Health, Catherine pursued her passion and enrolled in PA school at South University in Savannah, GA. It was during her clinical rotations that she found her calling in pediatrics, drawn to the resilience and honesty of children. In 2024, Catherine joined Rainbow Pediatrics in Fayetteville, bringing her expertise and special interest in exercise, nutrition, and childhood obesity to the practice. She strongly believes in involving the entire family in a child’s health, emphasizing the importance of familial support for overall well-being.
When she’s not caring for her young patients, Catherine enjoys spending time with her two dogs – a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepherd, engaging in physical fitness, reading, gardening, DIY projects, and going on motorcycle rides with her husband.
Fun Facts:
When her five-year-old brother was learning the state capitals, Catherine, who was three at the time, also insisted on being taught. Their dad made it a fun game: Whoever answered the state capital first and correctly received a quarter (what kids aren’t money-motivated?).
Catherine, an avid reader growing up, was reading Harry Potter in the first grade, to the surprise and delight of her teacher.
