Danielle Chavis, PA-C
North Carolina native Danielle Chavis knew she wanted to work in healthcare as a young child but didn’t know why. As she grew older and matured, she understood that God called her into the ministry of medicine.
Mrs. Chavis was born in Lumberton but raised in Laurinburg, NC. After graduating high school, she received her Bachelor’s degree from UNC Pembroke. After graduation, Mrs. Chavis worked as the lead biology teacher at Scotland High School for five years and coached the varsity cheerleading team for two years. While being a teacher was not her plan, Mrs. Chavis believes that God used this time to help her better understand the teenage population, which has helped her be a better provider. Eventually, she made her way to Methodist University, where she graduated from their physician assistant (PA) program. Throughout school, Mrs. Chavis thought she would pursue a job in family medicine but fell in love and felt called to work in pediatrics after her rotation with that population.
As a PA, Mrs. Chavis is passionate about building a trusting patient and provider relationship. She has a special interest in treating infants, overweight and obese patients, as well as children with ADHD. She loves seeing her once-newborn patients grow and change over the years and feels that working in pediatrics is rewarding and a true calling. Diabetes runs strong in her family, and both her mom and husband have Late Onset Type 1 Diabetes. Because of this, Mrs. Chavis has learned to be mindful about the foods she prepares and eats. She has applied her knowledge to help prevent her overweight and obese patients from developing Type 2 Diabetes.
When not working, Mrs. Chavis enjoys spending time with her husband, a Youth Pastor at their church. Together, they enjoy traveling and discovering new restaurants. She also enjoys exercising, spending time outdoors, shopping, and watching movies.
Mrs. Chavis has volunteered at her church as the Children’s Department Director since 2007. She teaches Sunday School, Wednesday nights and helps with summer camp and other ministry activities throughout the year. She has also volunteered for various mission trips to Alaska, the Dominican Republic, Georgia, and other local missions.
