Behavioral Health Services for Children in Fayetteville and Hope Mills, NC
Behavioral health services at Rainbow Pediatrics cover a wide array of issues for which many Fayetteville and Hope Mills families face. Despite the need for intervention, many families are hesitant to employ behavioral health care for their child due to the stigmas associated with mental health. The availability of these critical services within a pediatric practice is not only unique but extremely beneficial to families in need.
A Holistic Approach to Psychiatry
At Rainbow Pediatrics, we are pleased to offer a holistic approach to psychiatry. We strive to identify the root cause of the problem, so we can develop a comprehensive treatment program that makes a positive impact on your family.
Depending on the unique needs of the child, we offer a variety of traditional and alternative treatments including prescription vitamins to help with mood, nutritional medicine, lifestyle change recommendations, and prescription medications when needed. We can provide referrals for individual and family therapy as well as provide information for any social skills, anger management or parenting classes that may be helpful. The goal is to stimulate lifestyle changes and incorporate therapy, if applicable, before initiating medication.
“Kids are overmedicated,” Powers said. “It is critical to attempt to identify any causes of depression and then find non-pharmaceutical solutions to help fix the issues whenever possible.”
In addition, we are pleased to offer pharmacogenetic testing in the office, when needed. Pharmacogenetic testing results can be used to guide treatment decision making, helping to choose your child’s genetically optimal medication.
