Meet Dr. Piner
Dr. Elizabeth “Ellie” Piner is a board-certified pediatrician. Her undergraduate education was completed at Wake Forest University, where she majored in English with minors in Biology and Chemistry. She earned her medical degree with distinction from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Before joining Rainbow Pediatrics, she practiced in Maryland.
Dr. Piner takes a collaborative, patient- and family-centered approach to care. She prioritizes trust and open communication so families feel heard, valued, and confident in each diagnosis and treatment plan. She especially enjoys watching her patients grow and celebrating their milestones along the way.
Pediatrics was a natural path for Dr. Piner. As the oldest sister of three brothers, she developed a nurturing spirit early in life. She later worked as a nanny and taught English and Science to high school students before attending medical school.
Dr. Piner has a particular interest in caring for newborns throughout their first year. As a parent of young children, she understands the joys and uncertainties of welcoming a new baby and enjoys helping first-time parents feel informed and supported. Her experience as a high school teacher also gives her a unique and valuable perspective when caring for adolescents.
Dr. Piner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes excellence in compassionate, patient-centered care.
