Meet Michelle Burnette

North Carolina native Michelle Burnette was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, where she developed a love for the mountains. This love brought her to Boone, NC, where she attended Appalachian State University.

During her freshman year of college, Michelle’s father was involved in a motor vehicle accident that nearly ended his life. Although he ultimately recovered, he spent six months in the hospital. This experience solidified her desire to pursue a career in healthcare.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University, where she also met her husband, Allen. She went on to receive her Master’s degree from the Wingate University Physician Assistant Program.

After graduating, Michelle worked in the Cape Fear Valley Emergency Department for three years. While the experience was rewarding, she knew pediatrics was her true calling and was excited to join the Rainbow Pediatrics team in 2017.

Michelle is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).

She has a special interest in pediatric obesity and asthma and enjoys all aspects of pediatric care. Michelle enjoys building relationships with her patients and their families, and being able to watch and help her patients grow is especially meaningful to her. She feels blessed to work in pediatrics and it always brings a smile to her face when her patients remember her and greet her with a big hug.

Michelle and her husband have two children and a miniature dachshund named Rocky. Outside of work, her family enjoys visiting the mountains and hiking in their favorite spots. They are actively involved in Village Baptist Church, where Michelle enjoys spending time supporting children during services.
