Taner Esensoy, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Taner Esensoy, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is currently accepting patients in the Fayetteville clinic.
Dr. Esensoy always wanted to be a doctor. As a child, he would regularly check his parent’s blood pressure and heart rate to ensure they were in optimal health. Dr. Esensoy passion for medicine and love of children led him to pursue a career as a pediatrician.
“Children are fun and trusting. I enjoy watching them grow and change over the years. Being in practice so long allows me to treat second-generation kids, which is very special to me.” – Dr. Esensoy
Growing up in Turkey, Dr. Esensoy attended Ankara University School of Medicine. Following graduation, he made the decision to emigrate to the U.S. in 1990 to pursue a career in pediatric medicine. Upon arriving in the U.S., Dr. Esensoy worked as a research coordinator at New York Medical College for two years in Neuroscience. Dr. Esensoy then went on to complete his pediatric residency at The State University of New York Health Science Center (SUNY) in Brooklyn.
Living in New York was exciting, however, Dr. Esensoy and his wife, Gloria had two small children and wanted to live in a smaller town with a milder climate. In 1996, an opportunity became available to relocate to North Carolina and work as a pediatrician at a pediatric group practice that recently opened. Dr. Esensoy and his family decided it was the right move for both his career as well as their family so they headed south.
Building a pediatric practice with foundational values and a drive to more deeply connect the patient and provider-led Dr. Esensoy to open Rainbow Pediatrics in Fayetteville in March of 2005. A colorful, fun and engaging space for children, his mission was for kids to come happy and leave happy. He also wanted to provide patients and their families with the most innovative technology and comprehensive services to complement the exemplary care they received while within his facility.
A visionary, Dr. Esensoy knew that in order for his patients to be successful, the team within his practice must also be successful. Trust, respect, teamwork, and integrity continue to be the framework of Rainbow Pediatrics.
When not working, Dr. Esensoy thoroughly enjoys international travel. He loves immersing himself in new places and cultures. An avid soccer fan, Dr. Esensoy travels the globe to watch professional games whenever he can. He is happily married to Gloria, a clinical social worker originally from Chile. They have two sons, one of whom is a Georgia Tech software engineer. The other is following in his father’s footsteps and is currently in medical school with the hopes of becoming a pediatrician.
“Patients may forget what you said, but they will not forget how you made them feel.” – Dr. Esensoy
